PHILADELPHIA - Whenever the weather warms up in Philadelphia, there is one place that immediately calls my name: Spruce Street Harbor Park. Located right on the Delaware River at Penn's Landing, this urban oasis completely transforms the waterfront into a vibrant, beachfront boardwalk.

I recently headed down to see what the 2026 season had to offer, and I have to say, it remains one of the absolute best ways to spend a summer evening in the city. It's such a cute area downtown, tucked away from Philly's usual hustle and bustle. If you're looking for a place to sit, grab a drink or some snacks, and relax, this is it.

Here is my firsthand review of everything you need to check out at the park this summer.

The Vibe: Hammocks, Lights, and Floating Bars

Walking into the park at dusk is a magical experience. The trees are draped in stunning technicolored lights that give the whole area an enchanted, festival-like atmosphere.

My favorite spots to post up are the Floating Barges. Hanging out on a barge with the fresh breeze coming off the marine basin while sipping a seasonal cocktail and trying out local craft beers is simply unmatched.

Of course, you can't talk about Spruce Street Harbor Park without mentioning the colorful hammocks strung between the trees. They are a fantastic touch to the park's relaxed vibe. Pro tip from my experience: they are super popular and normally occupied by the time I get there, so if you want to snag one, try arriving a bit earlier in the afternoon!

Eats and Entertainment

There are a bunch of food stalls lining the boardwalk that serve up delicious food from some of Philadelphia's most popular restaurants. While some open a bit later in the evening, they are absolutely worth the wait.

For entertainment, The Lazy Hammock is the place to be. It's a dedicated performance venue featuring a stage, a bar, and a massive 16-foot video wall. I've found that their live music and concerts are a great way to spend the evening with friends, family, or your partner.

If you're looking for a quick treat, I highly recommend stopping by The Trading Post. It's a neat little corner store right in the park featuring Philly-made ice cream, locally crafted merchandise, and easy snacks. Beyond the food, there's plenty to do all summer long, from small outdoor rides to roller skating.

What's New for 2026 on the Water

While the park has its classic staples, I was thrilled to see some fantastic new additions to the marina this year:

  • Chiliboats Adventures: I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw these. It literally feels like you are riding a bicycle right across the water! It's a completely one-of-a-kind experience.
  • All-New Swan Boats & Glow Night Rides: Wheel Fun Rentals has brought a brand-new fleet of giant swan boats to the Penn's Landing Marina. These things are a massive upgrade—they seat up to 5 passengers, feature upgraded comfort seating, and have shaded canopies. You can even bring your own snacks, non-alcoholic drinks, and—best of all—your pup! With the park's extended summer hours, they are now offering unforgettable after-dark "Glow Night Rides" that look incredible on the dark water.

If you are planning a trip to Philadelphia or just looking for a weekend staycation spot, Spruce Street Harbor Park is a must-visit.

The park officially opened for the season on May 22, 2026, and is open seven days a week, including holidays. The best part? The site is completely FREE to enter and open to the public. If you are a dog owner like me, you'll be happy to know that dogs on leashes are fully welcome on-site.

Grab a craft beer, snag a hammock (if you're lucky!), and watch the world go by on the Delaware River. I'll definitely be back soon.
