Philadelphia, PA - FringeArts is pleased to announce CHAMP (Culinary and Hospitality Mentor Program), a new mentor program developed in partnership with the Philadelphia School District and launched by PECO.

The program's first year includes chef demonstrations, restaurant tours, internships, and professional development opportunities for more than 650 high school students who participate in 13 culinary and hospitality programs in the area. CHAMP kicks off this week with the first of a series of virtual workshops that will continue through the end of the school year, culminating in a career day and graduation ceremony at FringeArts in May.
Like the restaurant industry, CTE's culinary and hospitality programs have been impacted by the pandemic over the past two years, and CHAMP provides students with practical ways to hone new skills and prepare them for work after graduation.
The Philadelphia culinary community has strongly supported FringeArts through FESTIVAL's annual fundraiser. This mentoring program deepens that partnership as they collaborate in new ways to help prepare the next generation of culinary professionals for success.
Participating companies and organizations include CookNSolo, High Street Hospitality Group, Garces Events, San Pellegrino, Pennsylvania Restaurant & Lodging Association, and others to be announced later.
Classes will cover everything from knife and food service skills to home and out-of-home operations, running an individual business, and more. All February workshops will be virtually on Zoom, with in-class demos starting in March.
