Philadelphia, PA - Was eating 1,000 different cheesesteaks always a goal for me? No. Four years ago, eating different cheesesteaks was fun for my new best friend and me. I got caught up in Philadelphia’s passion for cheesesteaks, and here we are, 915 different cheesesteaks eaten in the last four years. I hope to add that to my resume by the end of 2021
1,000 Different Cheesesteaks In Four Years
My name is Jim Pappas, and I began my Philadelphia Cheesesteak Adventure on May 16, 2018. Before the adventure, I had lived by the ‘life checklist.’ Be a good little Hulkster, graduate from college, get a job, get married, have a baby, buy a house. Then have another baby, buy a bigger house, spend Saturday morning at the recreational fields watching the kids play whatever sport was in season. Or, how about joining Disney Vacation Club, then send kids to college, and retire.
Retire?? Rut-Ro. I was 50 yrs old when my younger daughter left for college. 50 yrs old to retirement is a long time to fill without a checklist. I wanted to do something fun and creative while I waited for retirement. My wife didn’t like that plan, so we separated.
While looking for something fun and creative to do, I met my new best friend. Claymont Steaks has a special place in each of our hearts for different reasons.
I ride-share Drive. We decided we would go and try different cheesesteaks. When I asked my riders about cheesesteaks, their passion came flying out of my backseat. They weren’t passionate about a roll, meat, and cheese. They were passionate about the people they ate their cheesesteaks with and the place they ate their cheesesteaks at.
Everyone that has gone on my Philadelphia cheesesteak adventure with me has enjoyed meeting the people behind the cheesesteaks and sharing cheesesteak stories. Everyone that has eaten 2 or more cheesesteaks with me can’t believe how different each cheesesteak is
