Philadelphia, PA - A historic iron furnace can be found in the heart of the countryside of Venango County, Pennsylvania. The Rockland Furnace is approximately 25 feet high and has an 11-foot-wide casting arch and a nine-foot-wide tuyere arch. Located just a few miles outside of Pittsburgh, it is an interesting place to visit for the whole family. The best time to explore this attraction is during the summer, when the weather is nice, as the tuyere arch is closed in winter.

The area around the Rockland Furnace is a popular hangout for teens. Though you may notice graffiti and trash around it, the site is well-preserved. It is an excellent stop on the Allegheny River Trail, part of the Samuel Justus Recreation Trail.
