Cheesesteak GuyPhiladelphia, PA - Cannella's Italian Deli, Nottingham, MD. This was my 969th different cheesesteak in the last four years. It is an interesting study in the psychology of eating. I ended up in Baltimore, MD. Usually, when I end up in the last place I want to be on earth, I turn my car towards home and drive in silence, trying to figure out why God hates me.

This night, I turned my lemons into lemonade (food site, food pun/reference). Cannella's has been on my go-to list for a long time, and they have a 4.8 rating on Google maps, so I decided to give them a try. I got excited about going to Cannella's. Cannella's could have been a Wawa in a past life. It is spacious. Most of the middle is open and has tables for eating in. They had a steady flow of customers, and the people behind the counter were pleasant and helpful.

I liked my choice. The Classic Cheesesteak comes with fried onions, lettuce, tomato, mayo, provolone, and hots. I love mayo on my cheesesteak but cannot bring myself to specifically order mayo on my cheesesteak. I get very happy when a cheesesteak comes with mayo, so I don't have to order mayo, but it will be on my cheesesteak.

The cheesesteak comes on a Cuban roll. I like Cuban sandwiches and Cuban rolls. I was happy. I asked for light hots. The hots gave this cheesesteak a great zing without the fear of indigestion. The roll had a nice crust, but the bread collapsed around the cheesesteak wonderfully. Everything in this cheesesteak worked together perfectly.

I loved this cheesesteak for all the wrong reasons!! The lettuce, mayo, and hots medley perfectly balanced the crusty roll and hardy provolone. The hots, I now understand why people, including the world's worst guest eater Mike F, love certain cheesesteaks. If you put your correct amount of hot peppers on any cheesesteak, you will love it.

Drive TO 1,000! 969 different cheesesteaks eaten in the last 4 years. I'll be at 1,000 different cheesesteaks by the end of the year. I love guest eaters; DM me to join me. Actually, I will join you at your favorite spot.
