Waynebrook InnPhiladelphia, PA - A day of cheesesteaks turned into a day of massive amounts of beer and cheesesteaks with Amigo Dan and his cousin-in-law. Thank goodness for Cliff. I am not sure of Cliff’s exact title, so I will call him Mr. Waynebrook Inn. Cliff runs a significant operation.

The Waynebrook Inn Cheesesteaks

The Waynebrook Inn was built in 1865. Most of the building is original. The Inn has 20 rooms, 22 bedroom apartments, the main restaurant, a (big) downstairs bar, an outside tented area, a terrace’ish area for small groups, and the speakeasy bar.

I was very fond of the Mad Elf on tap amid 20ish other taps, but my true love was the leather chairs in the speakeasy bar. The service was phenomenal, and Rachel put the phenom in phenomenal.

We loved the Onion & Bacon jam. I don’t know why it is called jam because it is warm. Spoiler Alert - the cheesesteak was average at best. It came with beer cheese, and Waynebrook Inn made potato chips. We ordered Onion & Bacon jam, Kelso (hot) sauce, and sriracha ketchup.

Between the beautiful building, Cliff’s hospitality, Rachel’s service, Mad Elf on tap, and the sauces, no one gave the cheesesteak a second thought. Cliff probably doesn’t want me telling you this, but I asked Cliff if we could bring outside cheesesteaks into his restaurant, The Long Way Home.

He said, ‘YES!’ - Public service announcement - When asking for big favors, remember to be respectful, humble, use your magic words, and make sure they can say yes.

Day of Beer & Cheesesteaks in Honey Brook, PA

It was Wednesday afternoon, and we were the only patrons. When other patrons arrived, we were very discreet.

We had 3 different cheesesteaks and a grilled cheese sandwich; the cheesesteaks and the grilled cheese had challenges. I’ll save the Gorey details for the video.

So, kept ordering beers and Onion & Bacon jam, and the winners of the Honey Brook cheesesteaks were us!   The other cheesesteaks were Jerry’s Pizza Pie, Papa Mark’s Pizza & Grill, and September Farm Cheese.
