Situated on 1219 South 9th Street, at the “X” shaped crossroads at Passyunk Avenue, the popular tourist destination Geno’s Steaks is owned and managed by Geno Vento who inherited the small business from its namesake, and father, Joey Vento. Joey launched Geno’s Steaks in 1966 with only $6 to his name. Although many people imagined he would fail and yet, during the past 49 years, Geno's has come to be a South Philly landmark as well as a tourist hot-spot recognized all around the world. The shop offers up cheesesteaks, roast pork sandwiches, fries, and also drinks sold 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
