Benihana “Be the Chef” Culinary Experience
Upon my arrival at Benihana, I was greeted by Manager James Pettiford. James brought me all the gear I would need to “be the chef.” I was outfitted with a chef’s coat, hat, apron, and a belt to hold my knife! I was ready to cook!
I was fortunate enough to be able to complete the “Be the Chef training” alongside Master Chef Michelle Cuevas. Chef Michelle started her career in the kitchen as a prep cook and worked her way up to Master Chef and has been serving up delicious teppanyaki style meals for the past 3 years now.
Chef Michelle walked me through every step of the meal from how to prepare the grill, cooking the famous “beating heart” rice and even how to make a smoking volcano from onions! During the chef experience, you get full instructions to be able to cook the complete meal for your family or friends. My first attempt at tossing the spatula was a complete disaster, but with a little practice, I was able actually to catch it! After your master chef teaches you everything you need to know, you invite your family and friends in to watch you cook a spectacular meal, but don’t worry your master chef will be close by to support you and give you reminders as needed. You don’t want to miss out on this unique and exciting experience!
If you are interested in the “Be the Chef” experience it can be purchased for $200 for four people (the chef and three guests) The chef’s guests will enjoy a meal of Benihana salad, shrimp appetizer, hibachi vegetables, splash ‘n meadow entrees, homemade dipping sauces, and Japanese hot green tea.
