Dive Bar CheesesteaksPhiladelphia, PA - We started at Thurston's Pub in Bear, DE. In the last five years, different cheesesteaks 966 & 967 will be remembered as Delaware Dive Bar Tuesday. I had guest eater Amigo Dan with me. Thurston's is a big shopping center with plenty of parking and a big welcoming sign.

Delaware Dive Bar "The Christiana Pub"

Narrow-minded cheesesteak traditionalists should skip this review. We got the cheesesteak with house-made cheddar beer wiz and mushrooms. I don't know if I was tasting the cheese wiz or mushrooms, but I liked it. I think it was the mushrooms. Amigo Dan thinks it was the cheddar beer wiz. It almost had the consistency of mushroom cheddar beer soup.

The cheesy mushroom awesomeness actually tasted better on the tater tots than the cheesesteak. It scored a 90/100. If we were there on Cheesesteak special day (Wednesday) and paid $8 for the cheesesteak plus a few Jo Jo Jo points, this could have been a 93. Our next stop was Christiana Pub. The Christiana Pub is in a less welcoming shopping center with a less welcoming sign.

I was shocked when we went inside Christiana Pub, a neighborhood bar disguised as a dive bar. The place was bright, and everyone was as lovely as could be. A lot was going on at Christiana Pub. It was Taco Tuesday. There were taco and Margarita specials. It was the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. They had a Bobbie Egg Roll special. Capriotti's, a sandwich shop chain that started in Delaware has a (complete) turkey dinner sandwich called the Bobbie.

The Bobbie Egg Roll was a complete turkey dinner egg roll with a side of gravy for dipping.   We got our usual cheesesteak with fried onions and mushrooms. The cheesesteak was probably the weak link of Christiana Pub. The grill man did the best he could. It was on a good roll. It needed more meat, more cheese, and a better cheese melt. The $5 margaritas went down very smoothly. The Bobbie Egg Roll was excellent, and the leftovers were my Thanksgiving dinner. Christiana Pub scored 89/100.
